Celebrity collaborations aren’t dead!

Traditionally, celebrities were a main source of brand exposure as they could reach a large audience to help advertise products. But for many years now, we have seen this overtaken by the rise of social media and influencers – more recently this has shifted to authentic content creators through users (UGC) and employees (EGC).

Now more than ever, it is important for brands to carefully select who they want to work with, not only to reach the right audience but who best represents the brand.

While brands will regularly work with influencers, send content creators their products and invite them to PR events, this year, we have seen some businesses go viral with their genius celebrity collaborations.

Take a look at some of our favourite celebrity brand collaborations of the year below.

Marks & Spencer X Mark Wright & Spencer Matthews

This was an excellent choice by the marketing team, not only do both men embody the business and give it exceptional exposure, but their names are the same as the brand, which couldn’t be more fitting.

Many brands made spin-offs from this, showcasing how popular the campaign was.

SKIMS X Nicola Coughlan

The brand owned by Kim Kardashian is known for its iconic and perfectly timed “FOR SKIMS” collaborations which regularly use big names to launch new items.

Nicola Coughlan for SKIMS was no different, perfectly timing the launch of the latest Bridgerton series on Netflix and pairing the romantic lead with the most loved SKIMS dress.

Blank Street X Sabrina Carpenter

The already viral coffee shop piggybacked off Sabrina’s Espresso song and got her serving coffee in one of their London shops. It was a perfect collaboration, with great timing, that raised even more awareness for the brand.
