Instagram is Changing… Again

There's another change on the horizon for Instagram, we'll let you know what you can expect.
It’s no secret that video continues to reign supreme over almost every social media platform, with that in mind the Head of Instagram has announced a number of changes that will give video a stronger prominence on the platform.
Last week, Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, shared a video on Twitter about the changes that are coming to Instagram. In the video, he said, “The number one reason people say they use Instagram, in research, is to be entertained.”
Mosseri said Instagram is looking to shift their focus onto entertainment and video after seeing the success of competitors, with TikTok being the rival to beat for other platforms.
The message that Instagram has shared is clear. They no longer want to be seen as the “square photo-sharing app”, but instead a general entertainment app. The main change includes showing users full-screen video on their feed similar to the For You Page on TikTok.
What does this change mean?
- New features to embrace
- There may be changes to algorithms
- Video content is more important than ever
